Common Overhead Door Closer

Feb 18, 2023

When many consumers choose door closers, most of them choose from the function. Another factor that can determine consumers' purchase is the appearance of door closers. High-priced door closers are also common in the market. They are widely used in commercial real estate and other projects, such as the conference room of the interior door of the office. Generally, there are three common types of top door closers.

Conventional arm: conventional arm or standard arm, closer to the pull side application, which means it is located outside the door. In these applications, there are two arms, one connected to the frame and the other connected to the spring loaded box on the pull side of the door. When closed, the arm protrudes vertically from the door, which is less attractive than other applications, but this is the most power-saving option.

Top Jamb: The top door frame door closer, like the conventional door closer, has a handrail extending vertically from the door. However, the biggest difference is that the spring box is installed on the surface of the door frame. These are usually used for aluminum or glass shop doors, because these doors usually have narrow top rails. Like ordinary door closers, the top closed door closer is very energy-saving.

Parallel arm: applied through parallel arm. When the door is closed, there are two arms at the top of the door. They are fixed to the door by a spring-loaded box, which is located on the top of the push side of the door and provides power for the closing action. Parallel arm door closers are one of the most common applications, especially in commercial real estate and schools, because they reduce the risk of intentional damage to the arm, and they are more attractive than other cost options. Due to the geometry of the arm, these are lower in power efficiency than ordinary arm and top door frame closers.
